Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. It is written to align with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

Only what you give us. When you fill in the enquiry form that is your name, business name, trade, mobile, email and the suburbs you work in. If you ring or email us, we keep that correspondence. If analytics is switched on, we collect anonymous, aggregated visit statistics that cannot identify you.

Why we collect it

To answer your enquiry, prepare a quote, and deliver work you have engaged us for. That is the whole list. We do not build marketing profiles and we do not enrich your details from third-party data brokers.

What we never do

We never sell your personal information. We never share it with third parties for their own marketing. We never send you commercial email you did not agree to receive — that is a requirement of the Spam Act 2003 (Cth), and every email we send has a working unsubscribe link.

Who else can see it

The services we use to run the business can technically access data you send us: Formspree, which delivers the enquiry form to our inbox, and Railway, which hosts this website. Both publish their own privacy terms, and we do not give either permission to use your data for anything else.

Where it is stored

Both providers store data outside Australia — Formspree in the United States and Railway in Singapore, where this site is served from. Under Australian Privacy Principle 8 we are required to tell you that, and we only use providers that publish and follow their own privacy commitments.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become work are deleted after 12 months. Client records are kept for seven years, because Australian tax law requires it.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand which pages people read and which of them lead to an enquiry. It sets cookies, so we ask before loading it: until you choose "Allow", nothing from Google is loaded and no cookie is set. Choose "No thanks" and none of it ever loads — the site works exactly the same. You can change your mind by clearing this site's data in your browser.

Where analytics data goes

Google Analytics stores data on Google servers outside Australia, and your IP address is shortened before it is stored. Australian Privacy Principle 8 requires us to tell you that an overseas provider is involved, which is why it is written here and why we ask first.

Getting at your information

You can ask us for a copy of anything we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email us and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your information, tell us first and we will try to sort it out. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
