How do I get work two suburbs over?

Suburb pages: how tradies show up outside their own postcode

Trades covering more than one area

You cover eight suburbs and Google thinks you cover one. Suburb pages fix that — but only the kind somebody actually wrote.

Google matches the place in the search to the place on the page. If your site only ever says the suburb your registered address is in, that is the only suburb you are competing in.

The line you must not cross

Taking one page, swapping the suburb name and publishing it thirty times is what Google calls a doorway page. It has been penalised since 2015 and the detection is not subtle. Five real pages beat thirty cloned ones, and the cloned ones can drag the rest of your site down with them.

What makes a suburb page real

  • Jobs you have actually done there — the kind of housing stock, the problems that come with it. Federation homes and a new estate have completely different plumbing.
  • Your genuine response time to that area, which is different for a suburb twenty minutes away than for the one you live in.
  • Landmarks a local would recognise, because they read as somebody who has been there.
  • The services people in that area actually ask for. Beachside suburbs ask about salt corrosion; the outer estates ask about new builds.

Write four proper suburb pages, wait a month, and look at what turns up in your enquiries before you write another four. The data will tell you which areas are worth the effort.

How many you need

Four to ten for most trades. Pick the areas you WANT the work in — the ones with the right jobs and a drive you do not resent — rather than everywhere you would technically go.

Our Standard package includes four written for you, and the Complete one includes ten. Both are on the pricing page, and either way you own them.
